Poppy Joe Update

I interrupt my blog challenge to give an update on my Dad...

He finished the BCG treatment for his Bladder Cancer about three weeks ago. For the last week or so he's been really tired. His blood pressure, which normally runs high even with medication, has been very low. He also has had a rapid pulse in the 130s, fever, extreme chills/shivering, no appetite, and was sleeping a lot.

He was admitted to the hospital earlier this week. He's  been receiving IV antibiotics for a UTI as well as what they strongly believe is Sepsis (an infection in his blood). We had hoped that he would be able to go home today, but he's still all over the place. Below is the most recent update from my mom:

The doctor came about an hour ago and told us that he would have sworn yesterday looking at things he would have let him go home today, but that his white count goes down and then comes back up despite heavy duty antibiotics.  The white blood count has bounced around from 12,000 to 8,0000, back to 16,000 and down and is now back to 1,3000 this morning. Therefore, he is to stay at least another day if not two until this is totally under control and will go home on a strong oral antibiotic for about 10 days to 2 weeks.
Caedmon and I went to visit him last night and he seemed to be in good spirits, much more talkative than he has been. Fingers crossed they can kick this infection and soon.
